Focused Priorities.
Increase Safety and Reduce Crime
As your next Sheriff, I and my team will work daily to ensure every resident feels secure and protected.
That starts with smart, proactive policing—focusing on prevention, strengthening community relationships, and holding those who commit crimes fully accountable. I intend to establish a Sheriff-led Gang Unit that will focus directly on gang-related crime throughout Memphis and Shelby County, targeting violent offenders with precision and urgency. At the same time, I will expand our Community Policing efforts to place deputies directly in neighborhoods most impacted by crime—building trust, fostering dialogue, and creating a visible, approachable presence that strengthens public safety from within.
But it also means addressing the root causes of crime with compassion and common sense: building partnerships with experts in citizen restoration programs, mental health programs, and youth development programs.
Public safety is a shared responsibility. My team's approach combines strong enforcement with meaningful collaboration—between law enforcement, community leaders, families, and organizations working for the same thing: a safer, more united City and County.
Together, we can create a future where safety isn't a privilege—it's a promise.
Enhance Community Engagement
Strong communities are built on trust, and that trust starts with open, honest, and consistent engagement between law enforcement and the people we serve. As your next Sheriff, I am committed to making the Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies more visible, approachable, and accountable to the residents of every neighborhood.
We will expand community programs that bring deputies and residents together—not just in times of crisis but in everyday moments. Whether through neighborhood meetings, youth programs, or faith-based partnerships, I aim to ensure that every voice is heard and every concern is addressed with respect and urgency.
Public safety works best when it’s a partnership. Together, we can create a safer, more connected Memphis and Shelby County—one conversation, one relationship, and one neighborhood at a time.
Expand Youth Mentorship Programs
Every young person in Memphis and Shelby County deserves the chance to be seen, supported, and inspired. As your next Sheriff, I am committed to partnering with nonprofit leaders to expand and enhance mentoring programs that provide consistent guidance, strong role models, and real opportunities for growth.
Through one-on-one mentorship, school partnerships and community-based initiatives, we will connect our deputies with youth in meaningful ways, helping them build a foundation that prepares them for life and leadership.
When law enforcement shows up not just as enforcers, but as allies, we inspire students to pursue a brighter future. By investing in our youth today, we lay the foundation for a safer, and stronger Shelby County tomorrow.
To keep our communities safe and our operations efficient, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office must commit to the advancement of technology. Ultimately, that means we become a team that is high touch and high tech, both are necessary for the advancement of law enforcement.
As your next Sheriff, I will prioritize smart investments in technology that improve transparency, enhanced officer safety, and streamline operations. This includes first responder drones, real-time crime mapping, modernized jail management systems and data-driven decision-making. This technology helps us hold criminals accountable and capture those who elude law enforcement.
Expanding the use of advanced technology is about working smarter, not just harder—to serve the people of Memphis and Shelby County with integrity, innovation, and excellence.
Broaden the Use of Technology
Modernize the Jail
An outdated, overcrowded, and under-resourced facility sends the wrong message—to the staff who work tirelessly inside it and to the individuals in our custody who deserve safe, humane conditions. As your next Sheriff, I am committed to modernizing the Shelby County Jail to reflect our values of safety, accountability, and respect for human life.
Modernization means creating a facility that is safer, smarter, and more aligned with today's best practices in corrections. It's time to stop patching problems and start building a system that works—for staff, inmates, and Shelby County's future. This is not just about infrastructure—it's about people. Many of our inmates will return to our communities; therefore, it is essential for us to provide health and rehabilitation services that truly restore them as citizens.
